Lara Jacobs
Owner/Directress
With over 15 years of Montessori teaching experience, Lara is thrilled to start another Montessori Primary school. In 1993, she began a school in Casper, Wyoming that eventually joined the elementary Montessori classroom in the public school system. For her Montessori training, Lara attended and graduated, in 1989, from the Washington Montessori Institute in Washington, DC, a training center for the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). She had the good fortune to have as her trainers, Liz Hall and Margaret Stephenson. Ms. Hall holds teaching diplomas in all three levels of Montessori training: Assistants to Infancy (Birth to 3) Primary (3-6) and Elementary (6-12.) Miss Stephenson was personally sent to the USA by Maria Montessori to train adults in the Montessori Method. Lara is dedicated to following her AMI training while still being open to try new, innovative teaching techniques. She and her husband have four children whose ages span from 17 to 1. They live in Bath.
The teacher's skill in not interfering comes with practice, like everything else, but it never comes easily, for even to help can be a source of pride.

Cathy Minnis
Directress
Cathy has spent much of her adult life caring for young children. She has over 20 years of experience as a nanny for families in New Jersey and Maine. While formally trained as a nail technician and in medical transcription, she found her true calling in 2006 when she enrolled at the Maine Montessori Institute, an American Montessori Society (AMS) teaching program, located in Falmouth, Maine. She graduated in 2007 with an AMS Early Childhood Teaching certificate and is now completing her second year of teaching with Lara. Cathy is originally from Old Town, Maine and now lives in Bath.
The teacher's task is not to talk, but to prepare and arrange a series of motives for cultural activity in a special environment made for the child.
